WAN-IFRA LAUNCH SEASON THREE OF THE BACKSTORY MEDIA FREEDOM PODCAST

WAN-IFRA have just launched the third season of  The Backstory, a podcast series exploring media freedom issues from across the globe. The series looks at challenging issues that journalists and media organisations are faced with, exploring how they tackle – and surmount – the obstacles to continue reporting the news.

You can listen to each episode direct from the WAN-IFRA website, but you can also subscribe to ensure you don’t miss any future episodes. The following links will take you directly to the series’ iTunes and Stitcher pages.

The first episode of the new season, “Where are the women? Finding gender balance in the news”, deals with the imbalanced representation of gender in the news, noting that men’s voices and men’s perspectives account for roughly 75% of the news. This first episode, developed in conjunction with WAN-IFRA’s Women In News programme, can be found here.
