Almost a year into the Russian invasion of Ukraine local journalists and media workers continue to report on events in the country and to keep the rest of the world informed of the evolving situation. In that time many funders, both governmental and philanthropic, have provided emergency funds to help the media survive. As the war enters its second year, emergency funding may no longer be as readily available, and journalists and media are finding themselves in a situation where they need to identify alternative sources of income.
In June 2021 GFMD launched a new fundraising centre and guide specifically aimed at the media and media development sector to help develop and improve fundraising proposals (for more information on GFMD’s emergency media support for Ukraine see here). In recognition of the dire situation now facing our Ukrainian colleagues, the Fundraising Guide for Media Development has now been translated into Ukrainian with funding from the EU.
From now on, you can browse the guide in multiple languages:
What is in the fundraising Guide:
🔍 Tips on how to plan the process, identify relevant opportunities, write a proposal, and present a realistic budget.
📚 An extensive lexicon of fundraising terminology to help you during the process.
💰 If you are looking for donors, the resource centre has an extensive list of relevant funders with details of their areas of focus and with links to their funding opportunities.
