TOWARDS INCLUSIVE SAFETY TRAININGS: A DISCUSSION AND TRAINING SHOWCASE WITH THE IREX SAFE TEAM

Author: Olga Komarova | 6. February 2020

Are safety trainings for journalists meeting the needs of diverse groups of media professionals? Are the trainings accessible for everyone? Who is underrepresented at safety trainings?

IREX’s SAFE program takes a human rights-based approach to development and works to constantly make its holistic safety trainings more inclusive. Over the past year, the team has worked to consolidate its learnings and approaches in Gender Equality and Social Inclusion into an Annex to its Basic Training curriculum. The Annex – to be published soon – will be open and accessible to journalists and media support organizations alike. It is based on the experience of all SAFE Centers, consultations with local organizations, and existing good practices in the field.

Join the IREX SAFE team for a presentation of the Annex, an interactive showcase of one of the lessons in the curriculum, and a discussion about approaches to inclusion in holistic safety trainings.

Speakers:

Eunice Olawo, Psychosocial Trainer, SAFE East Africa

Evgenia Javakhishvili, Psychosocial Trainer, SAFE Eurasia

Cosette Maalouf, Psychosocial Trainer, SAFE MENA

The webinar will take place on Thursday, February 6th at 15:00. GFMD members can register here.
