CALL FOR PROPOSALS: GRANTS FOR INVESTIGATIVE REPORTING ON ENVIRONMENTAL CRIME IN EAST AFRICA

Grant Internews’ Earth Journalism Network is offering journalists from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Rwanda reporting grants of up to $2,000 to produce investigative stories that dig deep into the illegal wildlife trade and environmental crime in East Africa and beyond. This opportunity is part of EJN’s East Africa Wildlife Journalism project, which aims to boost coverage of conservation and wildlife issues in the region and is supported by funding from the US Department of the Interior and the US Agency for International Development (USAID).

NIEMAN-BERKMAN KLEIN FELLOWSHIP IN JOURNALISM INNOVATION

INNOVATORS-IN-RESIDENCE PROGRAM 2020 LOOKING FOR THE BRIGHTEST MINDS (EAST AFRICA)

Grant The AKU GSMC Media Innovation Centre is looking for the brightest media minds from Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania to join the 2020 Innovators-in-Residence, a 12-month incubation and accelerator program that provides mentorship, training and coaching to selected media innovators in East Africa. The programme supports pre-formed teams of journalists, storytellers, visual artists, data analytics specialists, photographers, videographers, graphic designers, cartoonists, illustrators, coders, programmers and/or animators who will work as a team to create viable solutions to the pressing challenges of the East African media landscape.

Grant The Cláudio Weber Abramo Data Journalism Award aims to encourage excellence in the use of data by journalists reporting on issues that affect Brazilian society. The award aims to encourage the production and use of open data on topics of public interest in journalism; to encourage active transparency practices regarding the methodology and data sources used in journalistic works; to inspire students and journalists to work with data in their investigations; and to recognise professionals and outstanding works in the field of data journalism.
