EU WESTERN BALKAN MEDIA DAYS 2019

Launched in 2017 by the European Commission, the EU – Western Balkans Media Days aim to ensure that media freedom remains a priority while tackling the complexity of pressing political, economic and social issues the region experience at present.

UNITED NATIONS CIVIL SOCIETY CONFERENCE

The 68th United Nations Civil Society Conference will take place from 26-28 August 2019 in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA. The conference, organized by DGC with civil society (NGO Executive Committee) as the lead partner, is hosted by the City of Salt Lake.

HIGH-LEVEL POLITICAL FORUM ON SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

The meeting of the high-level political forum on sustainable development in 2019 convened under the auspices of the Economic and Social Council, will be held from Tuesday, 9 July, to Thursday, 18 July 2019; including the three-day ministerial meeting of the forum from Tuesday, 16 July, to Thursday, 18 July 2019.

GFMD TO ATTEND 2019 REGIONAL CENTRAL ASIA MEDIA CONFERENCE

GFMD will be represented by Advocacy and Engagement Manager, Michael Oghia at a session titled “Impact of Digital Development on Media Pluralism” at the 21st Regional Central Asia Media Conference, titled “Media Freedom and Pluralism in times of Digital Transformation” will be held this year in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan from July 17th to 18th.

14TH ABRAJI INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS

Registration is now open for GFMD member Abraji’s 14th Annual International Congress of Investigative Journalism. The event will be held from June 27 to 29, 2019 in São Paulo, at the Vila Olímpia campus of the Anhembi Morumbi University (R. Casa do Ator, 275).

GFMD ATTENDS EU DISINFOLAB CONFERENCE IN BRUSSELS

On May 28-29, GFMD’s Anne Marie Hammer and Justine Marchal attended the EU DisinfoLab’s annual conference. Key experts presented the emotional and psychological mechanisms behind public susceptibility to disinformation, introduced research and findings related to the recent European election campaigns, and discussed viable options for regulation both nationally and internationally.
