SWEDISH ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY AND UNDP LAUNCH YOUNG ENVIRONMENTAL JOURNALIST NETWORK

The Swedish Environmental Protection Agency and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) have established a new project aimed at developing an international network of young environmental journalists. The objective of the project is to allow young writers with knowledge of human rights and environmental protection within the mining industry of  Mozambique, Colombia, Kenya, or Mongolia to hone their writing skills. Applications are open to aspiring environmental journalists aged between 14 and 24.

Ten volunteers will be chosen for each country. Successful applicants will write one story per week, for eight weeks, focusing on the theme of change related to the governance of the mining sector in the aforementioned UN Environmental Governance Programme (EGP) countries. If selected, applicants’ work will be promoted in the EGP Community of Practice at GOXI Platform, the new EGP website and the EGP newsletters.
