SUMMARY

The Rooted in Trust project aims to disrupt and mitigate the flow of misleading, inaccurate or malign information for vulnerable populations affected by humanitarian crises during COVID-19. We work in: Sudan, Mali, CAR, Colombia, Lebanon, Philippines, and Afghanistan.

The MERL Officer will focus on all aspects of research and learning for this program. There will be a strong emphasis on creating both internally- and externally-relevant reports related to intervention-related learning.

LOGISTICS

This is a short-term, full-time consultancy with an anticipated end date in February 2021. This position is fully remote, and candidates from any geographic area are welcome to apply.

SCOPE OF WORK

  • Support data gathering and analysis throughout the project by Internews and sub-grantees;
  • Contribute to monthly project reports;
  • Support compilation of compliance reports while ensuring others meet their reporting obligations and timelines;
  • Support trainings to ensure project-wide participation in all research efforts;
  • Provide support in information ecosystem assessment implementation;
  • Support creation of externally shared learning documents regarding rollout of a global humanitarian response in the midst of a pandemic;
  • Maintain data collection and indicator tracking systems across all countries;
  • Maintain and operate database, including data entry and data interface with partners;
  • Additional activities as mutually agreed upon with Internews’ team;
  • Understand and demonstrate commitment to upholding Internews’ Core Values.

QUALIFICATIONS WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

  • Master’s degree in social science, anthropology, media development or equivalent preferred;
  • Experience in conducting baseline surveys, longitudinal surveys, and largely qualitative analysis;
  • Strong knowledge of social media and/or interest in mis/disinformation preferred;
  • Ability to train others in specific skills and support skill development;
  • Experience in using innovative approaches to deliver findings to communities;
  • Proven experience working on substantive aspects of multi-pronged, multi-partnered M&E programs, particularly in humanitarian and/or health contexts;
  • Ability to track various workflows while meeting deadlines and ensuring others meet deadlines;
  • Knowledge and skill in working with databases and processing and analyzing data from multiple sources;
  • Data visualization skills;
  • Ability to write analytical reports, clearly presenting both data and review;
  • Familiarity with various research methods, both quantitative and qualitative;
  • Ability to work as part of a cohesive team, bring forward creative solutions to problems and maintain a commitment to excellence and camaraderie;
  • Excellent written and spoken English;
  • USAID or USG M&E experience is strongly preferred.
