Technology Organization for Peace (Tech4Peace)

Tech4Peace’s mission is to raise awareness through capacity building, campaigns, advocacy, research, fact-checking, and technical innovation. The organisation focuses on empowering people’s safety, promoting human rights, and fostering collective efforts, with the ultimate goal of making everyone a part of Tech4Peace.

Tech4Peace is dedicated to fostering peace by concentrating on digital rights, digital security, and combating dis- and misinformation. The organisation began by addressing dis- and misinformation in Iraq, leading to the creation of a fact-checking platform with significant reach in the MENA region and beyond.

Their extensive experience operating in the unstable and often unsafe conditions of a post-conflict environment has driven their innovative, practical, and solution-oriented approach. Tech4Peace has developed a fact-checking app, an online learning platform, and launched a helpline to enhance the digital security of activists, journalists, women, and other vulnerable groups.

Tech4Peace operates as a grassroots and highly trusted organisation, supported by an engaged network of volunteers deeply motivated to contribute to peace in their societies. The organisation actively shares its knowledge and expertise through training on topics such as digital rights, digital security, social media peacebuilding, leadership, and fact-checking.

Through their work, Tech4Peace is saving lives, increasing social cohesion, enhancing digital security, improving access to reliable information, and raising awareness of digital rights, security, and the spread of misinformation. Although they primarily focus on unstable regions in the Middle East and North Africa, Tech4Peace believes that its expertise and knowledge are relevant to various other contexts as well.
