Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP)
Region: Eastern Europe, Caucasus, and Central Asia
The Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) is a nonprofit investigative reporting platform for 70+ independent media outlets around the world, publishing more than 100 investigations a year. OCCRP’s mission is to spread and strengthen investigative journalism around the world and expose crime and corruption so the public can hold power to account.
Founded in 2007 by veteran investigative journalists Drew Sullivan and Paul Radu, who early on saw the power of cross-border collaboration, OCCRP is now one of the largest investigative journalism organisations in the world. OCCRP develops and deploys cutting-edge tech tools to enable collaborative, secure data-driven investigations. With Aleph Pro, an investigative data platform powered by software they developed, journalists can search and cross-reference billions of records to trace criminal connections and patterns and efficiently collaborate across borders.
