Other Things We Do
Advisory Services: We provide advisory services and guidance to governments and other organisations in programmes and policy formulation, integrating media and communication, as well as support activities on wide range of issues.
Production: We are into production of audio visual and print messages like documentaries, newsletters and reports to support advocacy efforts. This is in addition to our expertise in Media Monitoring & Research on several development issues.

Updates and resources

Media Trainings & Mentoring: AMDF organises Media Trainings, as well as mentoring programmes where journalists are trained on how to write and report professionally. Under the mentoring programme, the journalists are paired with mentors to spend between 6 months to one year on reporting a particular beat, whether health, education, or climate change.
Media Roundtables: We conduct several Media Roundtables, each focusing on a development issue e.g. family planning, maternal health, climate change, education, etc. where we invite journalists and experts to discuss on the topic under focus.
Media Clinic: This is an annual activity where we bring reporters, editors, media executives and civil society groups to discuss on issues of concern to the media.
Issues covered so far have included fake news, ethical reporting and safety of the journalist.
Bagauda Kaltho Memorial Media Lecture Series: Starting 2019, AMDF has added the Bagauda Kaltho Memorial Media Lecture Series as part of its World Press Freedom Day celebration. Kaltho was a Nigerian Investigative Journalist who disappeared in a mysterious circumstance in 1996. During the event, a paper is presented, followed by a panel discussion on the WPFD focus for the year.
Press Freedom Africa: This project was introduced early 2019 to document and advocate for the safety of journalists and better environment to practice journalism in Africa. With dedicated staff, website and advocates across the continent, the desk highlights the plights of journalists on the continent and calls for measures that will end all forms of impunity against journalists. Where possible, the desk provides legal support and/or temporary accommodation to persecuted journalists.
Africa Conference on Development Journalism (#ACDJ): This is an annual gathering of development journalists. The conference is meant to serve as an avenue for exchange of ideas in addressing current and emerging issues facing Development Journalism. It is also meant to create a community of learning that will support the growth of Development Journalism in Africa.
