GFMD member in Mongolia, Globe International Center (GIC) recently developed and released their Media Freedom Monitoring Report. This report analyses Mongolian laws which regulate journalism and news media in the country, including those relating to the safety and security of journalists, while contrasting them with international standards and the equivalent laws in other regions.

Although Mongolia has made key steps forward in terms of respect for freedom of expression, information, and media, much remains to be done to ensure full consistency with international law. This global initiative, led by Democracy Reporting International (DRI), was funded by the European Union, with GIC serving as DRI’s implementing partner in Mongolia. The full report is available here.
