General members
- Positive Peace for Ethiopia (PPE) – Ethiopia: Positive Peace for Ethiopia (PPE) is a youth-led civil society organisation empowering young people and women to drive peacebuilding, conflict resolution, and social cohesion across Ethiopia. Through 17 regional chapters, PPE promotes inclusive participation in peace processes and strengthens community resilience via youth initiatives, digital literacy and fact-checking programmes, women’s leadership projects, and hate speech mitigation workshops.
PPE also engages globally as a member of networks such as CSPPS and AFWAG, contributing to peace and governance dialogues. Through advocacy, capacity building, and community mobilisation, the organisation is shaping a new generation of Ethiopian peacebuilders committed to justice, inclusion, and long-term stability. - CDAC Network Limited – United Kingdom: CDAC Network is a global alliance ensuring that people affected by crises have access to timely, accurate, and life-saving information. By strengthening communication, community engagement, and accountability across humanitarian systems, CDAC enables communities to make informed decisions and participate effectively in response efforts. Through partnerships, technical expertise, and evidence-based guidance, CDAC supports humanitarian actors in designing communication-focused responses that uphold dignity, transparency, and inclusion. Its work continues to improve how information is delivered and how communities are engaged before, during, and after emergencies.
- Reporters Shield – USA: Reporters Shield is an independent membership organisation that protects investigative journalists, media outlets, and civil society groups from legal threats aimed at silencing public interest reporting. The organisation provides legal defence, pre-publication review, and strategic support to safeguard journalists from lawsuits such as SLAPPs and other forms of intimidation. By bolstering the resilience of investigative reporting worldwide, Reporters Shield ensures that those exposing corruption and abuses of power can work safely and confidently. It plays a critical role in defending press freedom, transparency, and accountability across borders.
- African Women in Media (AWiM) – Nigeria: African Women in Media (AWiM) is a pan-African organisation dedicated to creating enabling environments for women in media and improving how women are represented in media content. Through research, advocacy, training, and partnerships, AWiM advances gender equity, inclusion, and professional empowerment across the media sector. AWiM’s flagship initiatives include the annual AWiM Conference (evolving into the AWiM Global Forum), the Mediapreneurship Programme, the AWiMLearning platform, and the HerMediaDiary podcast. The organisation also drives evidence-based research and policy advocacy to strengthen gender-responsive media systems across Africa.

- CulturFACE – Associação Cultural para o Desenvolvimento – Portugal: CulturFACE is a cultural association promoting diversity, inclusion, and social integration through arts and cultural expression. The organisation supports migrants, particularly within Portuguese-speaking communities, by advancing social and civic rights and fostering intercultural dialogue.
Through creative programmes, community initiatives, and advocacy, CulturFACE works to build an inclusive society where cultural identity is celebrated, barriers are reduced, and all people can participate fully in social, cultural, and economic life.
GFMD is thrilled to add a new group of members to the network and to work with them to promote media development and support journalism wherever it is threatened across the globe.
