GFMD LAUNCHES NEW MEMBERS-ONLY WEBINAR SERIES
5. October 2019
|As part of ongoing efforts to facilitate active communication of the valuable work being conducted within the GFMD network, GFMD is establishing a new series of members-only webinars to highlight the work being carried out by members. This may come in the form of a general overview of work conducted by the entire organisation, or it may focus on a specific project or report. The aim is to encourage an understanding of the work taking place within the GFMD network while also allowing organisations to promote their projects and publications. All GFMD members are encouraged to participate, either by joining one of the webinars or by registering to present their own work. Each webinar will be recorded and shared with all GFMD members to ensure maximum participation and exposure for those presenting their work.
Inaugural Webinar
To kick-off the series on Thursday, 17 October at 15:00 CEST, Daniel O’Maley from the Center for International Media Assistance (CIMA) will present their latest report titled “Big Data, Not Big Brother: New Data Protection Laws and the Implications for Independent Media Around the World,” along with the report’s author, Ayden Féderline.
As well as authoring this report for CIMA, Ayden Férdeline is a Technology Policy Fellow with the Mozilla Foundation, where he researches the ongoing development and harmonization of global data protection standards. He previously supported the Internet Society’s global public policy team and was a researcher for the data and analytics group YouGov. He is an alumnus of the London School of Economics and is based in Berlin, Germany.
