The RedLabora has launched a reporting grants program for Latin American journalists to investigate the world of work.
Objectives
- RedLabora is an international network of labor journalists, created by Repórter Brasil, with the support of the Solidarity Center and the Trade Union Confederation of the Americas (CSA), with the aim of qualifying and encouraging the production of content on this subject in the media of different countries, focusing mainly on labor rights and freedom of association.
- The network seeks to promote the exchange of information and collaborative work among its members and to stimulate the production of quality journalistic material on labor issues. To this end, regular newsletters and informative guides on contemporary issues, online training, scholarships and other support for reporting that addresses the world of work from different perspectives will be offered.
Themes
Priority themes within the world of work are:
- Human rights, especially labor rights
- Environmental crisis, climate change and the Amazon
- Multinationals and production chains
- Migration
- Contemporary technologies and digital rights
Funding Information
- The topics presented by journalists from Latin America are eligible for 2 (two) grants of US$ 2,000.00 (two thousand dollars) for the production of a special report on the world of work, taking into account the network’s priority themes.
- The winners will be announced on October 8th on the RedLabora website and notified by email. Those selected will receive a commitment form that must be signed in duplicate and returned to RedLabora. The term of commitment does not constitute an employment relationship.
- Winners will receive 50% of the scholarship amount as an advance, after signing the commitment term, and 50% after the publication of the report. The amount must cover all costs of investigation and production of the report.
