Organisation: International Women’s Media Foundation
The International Women’s Media Foundation (IWMF) is thrilled to launch a pilot project for Afghan women journalists and media workers in exile in the US.This program, designed in partnership with Sahar Speaks, will support a small cohort of Afghan women reporters and media employees who have been forced into exile since the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan in summer 2021.
The successful applicants will participate in an in-person retreat, mentorship and peer networking activities, monthly group calls, and will have the opportunity to apply for a competitive fund for reporting and professional development activities.
During the six-month program, the fellows will have the opportunity to meet and learn from media experts and senior journalists working in different fields.
This project will offer the much-needed support for women journalists and media employees to establish themselves in exile and reclaim their professional identities. They welcome writers, filmmakers, photographers, data journalists and translators and fixers who have worked in the media industry in Afghanistan.
