The Lincoln Institute of Land Policy invites journalists from across Latin America to compete in the fifth edition of the Premio Lincoln, recognising investigative and outreach journalism on land policy, sustainable urban development, and climate change. An independent jury of experienced journalists and urban-policy specialists evaluates entries across three Lincoln Institute impact areas: land and water; land and communities; and land and fiscal systems. Winners are announced on 20 October 2026 and recognised at the COLPIN Latin American Investigative Journalism Conference, to be held in the Dominican Republic from 1–4 December 2026.
Eligibility
- Journalists may compete individually or as an investigative team, designating a team coordinator responsible for all communications with the Institute.
- Entries must be one or more reports originally published in a media outlet between 1 January 2025 and 30 June 2026, in any format (print, digital, or audiovisual); individual pieces and series within the stated period are both accepted.
- Previous first-place winners may not enter works in which they were a principal journalist, though they may appear as contributors in submissions led by other journalists.
- Entries must have been published in a recognised media outlet; books, academic articles, technical reports, and unpublished journalistic pieces are not accepted.
- All entries must be available online, even if originally published in print or broadcast form; paywalled content must be made freely accessible or submitted as a PDF attachment.
- If an author submits more than one work, each must be submitted separately with its own application form.
Requirements
- Completed online application form with all fields filled in.
- A working web link to the story, or a PDF attachment for paywalled content.
- The story must address at least one of the Lincoln Institute’s three areas: land and water; land and communities; or land and fiscal systems.
