The Department of State Consulate of the United States in Islamabad is seeking applications to increase the number of qualified women journalists and reporters in Sindh and Balochistan through professional training and the creation of a formal support network for women journalists. The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ), women journalists barely constitute five per cent of Pakistan’s body of 20,000 working journalists.

The primary focus specified in this NOFO is to strengthen and increase the number of professional women journalists in Pakistan’s media industry. This project seeks to encourage and empower women journalists in Sindh and Balochistan provinces with quality training, opportunities, and support mechanisms to become leaders in the modern news media.

PAS Karachi seeks proposals to: strengthen and increase the number of qualified women journalists in Pakistan through professional journalism trainings; enhance their media entrepreneurial skills in print and broadcast media; establish a formal support network; and organize a final conference for all participants to collaborate, inspire, and learn from each other.
