The British High Commission Kuala Lumpur (BHC) is inviting bids to run projects that support and improve media freedom in Malaysia.

As a strong advocate for media freedom, the UK seeks to support governments, media stakeholders and civil societies around the world in efforts to promote media freedom.

The projects must aim to deliver the following objectives:

  1. Increasing cooperation between policy makers, journalists and civil society on improving media freedom in Malaysia
  2. Capacity building and advocacy to
    1. improve media literacy; or
    2. strengthen investigative journalism; or
    3. counter misinformation and disinformation

Interested parties may bid for funding up to £20,000 (including management and administration costs, and relevant local taxes) for projects running from July/August 2023 to March 2024. The work must be completed by March 2024. There will be no funding beyond this period.
