  • Eligibility: The scholarships are open to individuals and teams. The following criteria must be met to qualify:
    – Journalists who identify as women or non-binary people
    – Journalism should be your primary profession
    – They must have at least three years of professional experience working in media (not including internships)
    – They must have a letter of support or interest from an editor of the medium where they plan to publish the report (preferred) or they must show a track record of publishing reports in that medium

The International Foundation for Women in the Media (IWMF) and the Women’s Equality Center are pleased to provide grants to support the production of reports focused on reproductive health, reproductive rights and justice in El Salvador. Some examples of relevant issues include access to abortion and contraception, reproductive health policy, stigma, migration as a result of the abortion ban, and more. This funding supports the presentation of untold stories about problems that affect the daily lives of women and girls in El Salvador. This opportunity is open to all female and non-binary journalists in El Salvador.

Scholarships will be between $1,000 and $4,000, but funding will vary based on the need, scope, and location of the project. These funds can be used to cover travel and logistics, security costs, and other professional expenses. All reports and posts must be completed by January 31, 2022.
