  • Eligibility Criteria
    – Journalists and entrepreneurs residing in Chile who are committed to combating disinformation by establishing new media outlets are eligible to apply for the GNI Startups Lab;
    – Submitted projects must focus on current Chilean news, covering events and topics that have a significant impact on the life of the country and its citizens, such as politics, economics, society, investigative journalism, etc;
    – Projects in the early stages that have not yet launched or have been operating for less than six months (as of the application deadline) will be considered.

GNI Startups Lab Chile is a 10-week virtual training program designed by Google News Initiative, in partnership with SembraMedia, to foster the creation of innovative media outlets in Chile.

Key Features of the Program
  • Comprehensive Training: Participants will receive training in a variety of areas, including: Quality content creation, Audience development, Business models and Ethical journalism.
  • Mentorship: Experienced mentors will provide guidance and support.
  • Financial Support: Participants will receive funding to develop their projects.
  • Networking: Opportunities to connect with other journalists and entrepreneurs.
  • Real-World Application: Participants will develop a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) by the end of the program.
