European Cross-border Grants

Key Information

• Eligibility: Teams of journalists from at least two European countries who have good ideas for cross-border investigation and for research on European affairs. Journalismfund.eu supports journalists residing in a Council of Europe country (geographical Europe). When relevant for the story, team members from elsewhere can be accepted, too but investigations must have a European affairs focus
• Funding amount: In 2020, there were €180,000 to distribute over three application rounds. New round in 2021.
• Type of funding: Programmatic. Journalismfund.eu supports costs related to journalistic research for all media. This can include travel, translation, access to pay-databases or simply time to research. They do not support fixed costs such as office costs, investments such as cameras or computers or production costs.

Journalismfund.eu offers pre-application advice sessions on a regular basis for applicants wanting to discuss their ideas before they apply or if they have any other questions regarding the application process, rules, timing etc.
