    – The Environmental Journalism Scholarship is open to any freelance journalist. Particular attention will be paid to young journalists for whom a helping hand may be particularly welcome;
    – This scholarship can only be awarded once per person.

The Dauphine Foundation in collaboration with Journalists-Writers for Nature and Ecology and the Madeleine Foundation, has launched the Environmental Journalism Scholarship to help freelance journalists in their reporting.

The works which may be presented as part of the competition: any report in France or abroad, intended to appear in a recognized French-speaking media, relating to a theme linked to ecology: protection of nature, agriculture and food, water sharing, climate change.

Selection Criteria

The selection of proposals by the jury will be made during the month of September based on the study of the following criteria:

  • the originality of the subject.
  • taking into account ecological issues and applying the principles of the Charter for journalism commensurate with the ecological emergency in the choice of treatment of the subject.
  • the application of the recommendations for the treatment of scientific questions of the Council of Journalistic Ethics and Mediation (CDJM) in the choice of sources.
  • the practical and financial feasibility of the report.
  • the general impression of the proposal (knowledge of the subject, motivation, CV, quality of the argument).
Scholarship Information

Two scholarships of 2,500 euros will be awarded in the form of endowments. Candidates must send the association the published article or the distribution link to the report produced following obtaining the scholarship. For their part, the JNE are committed to highlighting this report on their website and social networks.
