The National Press Foundation has announced applications for the Economic Justice Journalism Awards to recognize excellence in reporting on economic inequality and its effects on families in the United State.

This Economic Justice Journalism Awards is offered in conjunction with briefings for journalists who took part in the Future of the American Child Reporting Fellowships in 2023 and 2024.

Award Information

The three $4,000 prizes are given for work published within each of these categories:

  • Story published/aired by any news outlet
  • Story published/aired by any news outlet with a newsroom of 150 or fewer journalists
  • Story is published/aired by any news outlet with a newsroom of 50 or fewer journalists, or by a freelancer, unemployed or furloughed journalist.

These awards and the trainings are funded by the David and Lucile Packard Foundation, W.K. Kellogg Foundation and Heising-Simons Foundation. NPF is solely responsible for the content.

The deadline for applications is March 10, 2024.
