  • Eligibility Criteria
    To be eligible for the CONNECTAS production grants:
    – Be a journalist, social communicator or from another field interested in reporting on environmental crimes affecting the Amazon through journalistic content;
    – Submit a story related to the Amazon in Colombia, Peru or Ecuador. Participants do not necessarily have to be from these countries;
    – The application should include links to recent publications, preferably research, in-depth work or reports;
    – The proposal must be in Spanish;
    – Only applications submitted through the Matrix CONNECTAS platform will be accepted;
    – It is essential that those interested do not have a current scholarship with CONNECTAS.

The CONNECTAS has launched its call for production grants with the aim of supporting journalists and communicators interested in writing stories about environmental crimes and their possible solutions in the Amazon region, specifically in Colombia, Ecuador and Peru.

This activity is carried out within the framework of the project Conserving Together, whose objective is to strengthen the capacities of civil society actors and their regional networks to conserve biodiversity and prevent environmental crimes in the Amazon. This call is made in partnership between the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), WCS and Internews.

Funding Information
  • Funds of up to $2,000 will be awarded, depending on the complexity of the story’s production. The elements of revelation, the potential impact of the publication, and whether it has transnational elements will be evaluated.
  • Funds will be delivered over the three months of the story’s development. The time is counted from acceptance for initial feasibility, while the administrative procedures for the first disbursement are carried out.
  • The amount for each project, according to the budget, will be disbursed at different stages of the research. The first, after approving the initial feasibility and signing the Grant agreement.
  • The costs of banking transactions will be borne by the beneficiary.
