Call for Proposals: European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (eidhr) Country Based Support Scheme (cbss) for Kyrgyzstan

• Eligibility: 
  • In order to be eligible for a grant, the lead applicant must:
    • be a legal person
    • be non-profit-making
    • be a specific type of organisation such as: non-governmental organisation, a civil society organisation, (international organisation as defined by Article 156 of the EU Financial Regulation  are ineligible)
    • be established in any territory as no nationality restriction applies to applicants and, if any, to co-applicants, and affiliated entities,
    • be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the co-applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies), not acting as an intermediary
    • have been registered for at least two years at the submission deadline for concept notes.
  • Potential applicants may not participate in calls for proposals or be awarded grants if they are in any of the situations listed
• Funding amount: The overall indicative amount made available under this call for proposals is EUR 1.000.000.

The European Union (EU) is seeking proposals for European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR) Country Based Support Scheme (CBSS) for Kyrgyzstan programme.

The EIDHR is designed to help civil society to become an effective force for democracy and defence of human rights. Next to the programmes that the European Union runs on a global level, it also puts in place a “Country Based Support Scheme” (CBSS) on a country level, under which calls for proposals are designed in order to support and strengthen civil society organizations and human rights defenders promoting and defending human rights and democracy.

The priorities of this call for proposals are:

• Promote inclusive growth and inclusive decision-making through women and youth empowerment, as well as opportunities for youth to become self-employed through supporting creative start-ups and initiatives to entrepreneurship and employability skills.
• Support civil society, women and youth organisations to promote and protect freedom of opinion and expression by facilitating the free flow of information and ensuring transparency and accountability, as well as strengthening media literacy and countering hate speech in the media.
