As part of its efforts to counter disinformation, the National Democratic Institute (NDI) announces a call for applications for a media subgrant and invites media outlets and NGOs with relevant experience to apply. NDI plans to provide a subgrant to media outlets that work or plan to work in the field of countering disinformation to create media products for various communication channels and audiences (e.g., radio programs, online articles, online news sources, television, messengers, cooperation with regional media, influencers, etc.), which will be distributed throughout Ukraine or in certain regions in order to better inform about events in Ukraine and overcome the consequences of disinformation. The purpose of such activities is to reduce the vulnerability of Ukrainians to Russian disinformation and propaganda narratives.

NDI expects the sub-grantee to undertake the following activities:

  • During the grant, create materials aimed at countering Russian disinformation (e.g., articles, fact-checks, podcasts, video stories, short videos for social networks, social media posts, interactive content, graphics, pictures, etc.);
  • The target audience is residents of the frontline and temporarily occupied territories, IDPs, vulnerable communities, as well as residents of all of Ukraine in general;
  • Create content that will help reduce citizens’ vulnerability to disinformation and harmful narratives;
  • Develop innovative plans to reach Ukrainian audiences to more effectively disseminate reliable information and mitigate the impact of disinformation.
