    To be eligible for the small grant:
    – Only local, national or community-based non-governmental and not-for-profit civil society organisation with existence for 5 years or more who promotes independent and quality journalism, and has capacity to provide training and mentoring for media practitioners can apply for this grant;
    – Government authorities and for-profit commercial or private organisations cannot apply but may participate as cooperation partners in the project;

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the European Union continue their partnership to promote Business and Human Rights agenda, through the newly launched joint action titled Agents of Change: Youth and Media for Responsible Business Practices (Agents of Change), which focuses on promoting youth and media engagement as key civil society actors and drivers of change in the context of business and human rights.

To enhance reporting and communications on BHR issues in Mongolian MEDIA, including inclusive and gender-responsive approaches, UNDP is going to provide a small grant support to the media organisation to promote reporting on responsible business, fostering new levels of demand for positive change in business operations.

Thematic areas

The proposals applied for the grant must align with the following areas:

  • Networking, training, mentoring, and awareness raising of media practitioners on human rights and environmental issues caused by business activities a.k.a BHR+E issues;
  • Developing training material and using UNDP’s Reporting Business and Human Rights: A Handbook for Journalists, Communicators, and Campaigners to sensitise media practitioners about BHR+E issues;
  • Support investigative journalists to be equipped with enhanced reporting skills on BHR+E issues and to produce actual media and communication products on BHR+E issues with the inclusive and gender-responsive approaches by providing them with guidance and small grants;
  • Innovative means of sensitising and incentivising the journalism students and youth interested in BHR+E issues to produce media and communication products on BHR+E issues with the inclusive and gender-responsive approaches.
Funding Information
  • Under the small grants programme, UNDP will contribute approximately 35,000 USD to one CSO.
  • The proposed project activities must be completed by 30 September 2025.
