IGF 2018 WORKING GROUP ON INTERNET GOVERNANCE ONLINE MEETING
19/09/2018 @ 15:00 - 16:00
With the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) fast approaching, GFMD, CIMA, IMS, and ARTICLE 19 will once again co-convene a gathering of media development stakeholders to discuss our shared priorities in the field, and to develop concrete ways we can work together to amplify our research and advocacy. This year’s meeting is being co-sponsored by UNESCO, which has graciously offered to host us on Thursday, November 15th – the day following the end of the IGF (more details on time and location to come).
To coordinate our activities and efforts in more detail, we will host an online meeting on Wednesday, 19 September from 3:00 – 4:00 CEST. This will also be an opportunity for those who will be attending IGF to share any activities/panels/workshops planned that may be of interest to this community.
The tentative agenda for the conference call will be as follows:
- Description of the meeting’s rationale and target objectives.
- Brief presentation of the Issue Paper on Media Development and Internet Governance – the output from last year’s gathering – readable here.
- Identify partners/speakers who should be invited – particularly practitioners and researchers from the Global South who are typically underrepresented.
- Discuss IGF coordination on other panels/activities of interest to media development stakeholders.
