EU DisinfoLab’s Annual Conference #Disinfo2021

26 October 2021 - 27 October 2021

Pre-registration is now open for EU DisinfoLab’s 2021 Annual Conference on Disinformation. This two-day event will take place at the Renaissance Hotel in Brussels, the 26 and 27 of October 2021. The Coronavirus required our 2020 conference be held online, but this October, we are returning to our treasured physical format for the 2021 edition.

During two days, we will dig into pressing issues in the disinformation space, from the growth of the industry of professional disinformation services to the challenge of climate and anti-science disinformation, to the future of open source intelligence as a field.

Following an opening keynote by Eliot Higgins, founder of Bellingcat, we will be joined by leading experts and stakeholders for a mixture of panels, presentations, and case studies, including with Facebook Whistleblower,Sophie Zhang.

Věra Jourová, Vice President of the European Commission for Values and Transparency, will conclude the event on October 27.

This year’s conference will place disinformation into a broader context of democracy and civic integrity, with an emphasis on how to support civil society and fundamental rights. The event will take place as EU lawmakers and civil society are crafting policy responses to our information disorders, through the EU Digital Services and Digital Markets Acts, new rules of artificial intelligence systems, and regulation on behavioral advertising and data governance.
