The Gabo Foundation, in partnership with the Google News Initiative, invites applications for its Virtual Workshop in Digital Native Media Leadership and Management to strengthen their abilities to design and implement strategies as team leaders, face crises with their teams and media, deepen and strengthen relationships with their audiences, and identify opportunities for growth and consolidation in the market.

This virtual workshop is designed to train and accompany those responsible for journalistic teams of digital native media in Latin America, addressing topics and approaches that are revolutionising the field of journalism.

This workshop is a unique opportunity for those who wish to strengthen their leadership and skills in the dynamic environment of digital journalism, learning from the experience of leaders in the field and applying cutting-edge knowledge in their own media.

Who can participate?
  • People responsible for journalistic teams from independent, digital native news media, who are based in Latin America and carry out their work on any digital platform, are eligible to apply for this call.
  • Applications from people linked to media outlets that have been operating for between 1 and 7 years and who are interested in strengthening or fine-tuning their growth and consolidation strategies at the editorial level will be given preference.
  • For this workshop, 20 people who meet the above-mentioned profile will be selected.
Selection Criteria

The following criteria will be taken into account when selecting participants:

  • Specific experience of the applicant in leading journalistic teams.
  • Verifiable experience of the native digital media in the practice of informative, independent and quality journalism.
  • Relevance and viability of the development project planned for implementation in the environment.

Those who apply for this workshop must take into account the following guidelines to participate, if selected:

  • Have time available to participate in the six (6) live sessions.
  • Have a computer or device with a webcam and microphone, which must remain on during sessions.
  • Have a stable internet connection.
