Second Open Call: Apply Now for the July 2025 Next-IJ Cross-Border Investigative Training Program!

OCCRP and Transcrime–Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore are now accepting applications for the July 2025 session of the Next-IJ Cross-Border Investigative Training Program!
This one-day online intensive, taking place on Friday, 18 July 2025, offers a second chance to join an impactful training focused on sharpening investigative journalism skills through real-world applications and expert mentorship.

Organized as part of the Next-Level Data and Tools for Investigative Journalism (Next-IJ) initiative—supported by the European Union—this program is designed for mid-career journalists looking to strengthen their cross-border investigation techniques, data analysis abilities, and understanding of financial crime reporting.

Objectives

• Equip journalists with advanced tools for tracking assets, uncovering hidden ownership, and investigating corruption
• Strengthen cross-border collaboration and data-driven storytelling skills
• Provide ethical and legal guidance for investigative work
• Expand participants’ networks and access to global investigative resources

Eligibility

• Mid-career journalists with a background in investigative journalism, data journalism, or in-depth reporting
• Applicants must be based in or affiliated with a Creative Europe country (EU member states, Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein, Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, North Macedonia, Kosovo, Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova, Armenia, and Tunisia)
• Freelancers are welcome to apply
• Professional working proficiency in English is required
• Journalism students are not eligible unless professionally active in the field (e.g., experienced journalists pursuing advanced degrees)
• The program encourages applications from individuals of all genders and underrepresented communities
