OCCRP and Transcrime – Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore are now accepting applications for the September 2025 edition of the Next-IJ Cross-Border Investigative Training Program!
This one-day online intensive, taking place on Saturday, 20 September 2025, offers a final opportunity in 2025 to join a high-impact training designed to sharpen your cross-border investigative journalism skills through real-world tools, expert-led sessions, and mentorship.
Organized as part of the Next-Level Data and Tools for Investigative Journalism (Next-IJ) initiative—supported by the European Union—this program targets mid-career journalists ready to enhance their investigative capabilities in financial crime, data analysis, and international reporting.
Objectives
- Equip journalists with advanced tools for tracking assets, uncovering hidden ownership, and investigating corruption
- Strengthen cross-border collaboration and data-driven storytelling skills
- Provide ethical and legal guidance for investigative work
- Expand participants’ networks and access to global investigative resources
Eligibility
- Mid-career journalists with a background in investigative journalism, data journalism, or in-depth reporting
- Applicants must be based in or affiliated with a Creative Europe country (EU member states, Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein, Serbia, Montenegro,
- Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, North Macedonia, Kosovo, Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova, Armenia, and Tunisia)
- Freelancers are welcome to apply
- Professional working proficiency in English is required
- Journalism students are not eligible unless professionally active in the field (e.g., experienced journalists pursuing advanced degrees)
- The program encourages applications from individuals of all genders and underrepresented communities
