The Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies (ACRPS) is now accepting applications to participate in the sixth round of its International Winter School (IWS) on “Media in Wartime”, to be held from 11 -16 January 2025, in Doha, Qatar.

The sixth round of the IWS on “Media in Wartime” will address the interaction between media and war, exploring how conflicts and the media mutually influence each other, and examining how war coverage is shaped by ideological and cultural biases. The school invites submissions from advanced PhD students and early career scholars specialising in various social science and humanities disciplines worldwide.

Topics

The school welcomes submissions on topics such as media framing of war, war coverage and agenda setting, ideology, culture, and ethnocentrism in war coverage, propaganda of war, embedded journalism and media-military relations, media and cyberwars, visuality in wars and conflicts, journalistic ethnography of war, trust in journalism and the news industry in wartime, security and safety for journalists in new wars, grassroots challenges to official narratives of war, propaganda and psychological warfare, visuality in wars and conflicts, disinformation in war and conflicts, and other related topics.

Eligibility Criteria
  • PhD candidates in social sciences and humanities.
  • Recent PhD graduates and early career academics.
