Gabo Festival 2026

The Gabo Festival—the largest gathering in Ibero-America dedicated to celebrating journalism, culture and citizenship—invites proposal for workshops or masterclasses for the 2026 edition, to be held in Bogotá from July 23 to 26.

Thematics 

• This year’s program once again brings together journalists, academics, artists and citizens around conversations, learning spaces and cultural experiences.
• Each year, the Festival’s curatorial team designs a program inspired by the current context and by the main challenges and trends shaping journalism.
• This call seeks to enrich that process with workshops and masterclasses proposed by organizations that support journalism through training, research, funding or accompaniment programs, and that wish to expand their reach and share their experience with new audiences across the Festival’s various venues.
• The organisers invite organizations that believe in the power of journalism to improve society and amplify voices that transform reality to submit their initiatives for participation.

Eligibility 

This call is open exclusively for organizations focused on promoting excellence in journalism through programs, funding, training or related initiatives.

What the organisers offer 

• The Gabo Festival will provide partial logistical and communications support to the selected projects.
• However, if your organization is able to cover the costs of meals, transportation, and accommodation, the organisers kindly ask that you indicate this in the application form. This will be considered as support for the Gabo Festival and a contribution to its sustainability.
• The festival guaranteez a venue for the activity, with capacity for up to 30 participants in workshops and up to 100 attendees in masterclasses.
• Participating organizations will receive visibility through the festival and its promotional materials.

How to apply 

Interested organisations should complete the registration form before Thursday, March 19, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. (Colombia time). In the form, they must select the format of the activity you wish to propose. Applications must adapt to one of the official Gabo Festival formats:

• Masterclass: 1 speaker (no moderator). Duration: 45 minutes.
• Workshop: 1 speaker (no moderator). Duration: up to 4 hours.

Lastly, please note that the Gabo Foundation does not issue diplomas or certificates of attendance to participating individuals.
