Floodlight Gaming Investigative Journalism Game Jam 2026

Status: Open

Organisation: Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP)

Deadline: 15/02/2026

Location: Online

OCCRP’s Floodlight Gaming is inviting applications for the second edition of its Investigative Journalism Game Jam, supporting journalists who want to transform impactful investigations into interactive, in-browser video games. The programme brings together investigative reporters and independent game creators to adapt complex reporting into engaging formats.

Floodlight Gaming was created by the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP), the Gabo Foundation, and gaming industry professionals.

Objectives

  • Investigative work made into a video game that respects and reflects your reporting and can be played on your website.
  • Adapting reporting into engaging formats that amplify impact and reach, resonating with younger audiences, increasing visibility, and opening new pathways for engagement and donations.

Thematics

  • The stories applicants submit could be individual investigations like “Hunting the Hunter”.
  • Series rooted in your outlet’s mission, identity, and flagship investigations — like OCCRP’s Laundromat investigations, which were turned into the prototype “Dark Money,” which they are also currently co-developing.
  • Prioritise stories that represent the core mission of your organisation and highlight your best work and impact.
  • It could be environmental crime, exposing disinformation operations, or any other areas of expertise.
  • Don’t worry if you don’t see the “gameplay” yet — that’s where game developers come in.

How to apply

Applicants must submit their stories using this application form. Stories need to be submitted by February 15, 2026. OCCRP will announce selected stories on March 15, share them with game developers, and choose game finalists at the Indigo Festival in Rotterdam, June 2-3, 2026.
