The First session of the Preparatory Committee for the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development will be held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia from 22 to 26 July 2024, for representatives from non-governmental organisations in consultative status with ECOSOC.

The UN General Assembly, in its resolution 78/231, decided to convene a fourth Financing for Development Conference (FfD4) in 2025 to, inter alia, assess the progress made in the implementation of the Monterrey Consensus, the Doha Declaration and the Addis Ababa Action Agenda, identifying obstacles and constraints encountered in the achievement of the goals and objectives agreed therein, as well as actions and initiatives to overcome these constraints, and to address new and emerging issues, including in the context of the urgent need to accelerate the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals and to support reform of the international financial architecture.

This session of the preparatory committee will include 9 multistakeholder meetings:

  • Multi-stakeholder round table 1: Cross-cutting issues
  • Multi-stakeholder round table 2: Domestic public resources
  • Multi-stakeholder round table 3: Domestic and international private business and finance
  • Multi-stakeholder round table 4: International development cooperation
  • Multi-stakeholder round table 5: International trade as an engine for development
  • Multi-stakeholder round table 6: Debt and debt sustainability
  • Multi-stakeholder round table 7: Addressing systemic issues
  • Multi-stakeholder round table 8: Science, technology, innovation and capacity-building
  • Multi-stakeholder round table 9: Data, monitoring and follow-up.
