Europe Editor Safety Cohort Training Program 2025

The ACOS Alliance invites applications for the 2025 Europe Editor Safety Cohort Training Program, taking place in June 2025. This program offers enhanced safety training to editors and newsroom managers from Europe-based media outlets, with 15 free places available.

Participants will engage with The Fundamentals of Safe Commissioning course, supplemented by weekly webinars and a one-on-one coaching session. Led by Sally Fitton, Director of TV and Film Projects at Secret Compass, the cohort will explore risk management and safety strategies tailored to both staff and freelance journalists.

Objectives

• Provide enhanced, tailored safety training to editors and newsroom managers.
• Empower editors to adopt and implement safe commissioning practices and improve newsroom safety protocols.
• Foster a culture of safety within news organizations.
• Create editors’ peer networks for support and best practice sharing in journalist safety.

Eligibility

• Open to editors and newsroom managers from Europe-based media outlets
• Editors who work with staff, freelancers, or both are encouraged to apply
• Strong interest in improving journalist safety practices required
