Effective Media Dev and Journalism Support 2022 – A GFMD Survey

Please help us map the funding situation for the media development community. Your answers will help shape the advice that GFMD provides to government, institutional and private funders on how best to support the media and media development communities regionally and locally.

Why take this survey? It has an impact on our work and the work of our members and the wider community! The results of the last major GFMD survey in 2019:

• Informed GFMD’s strategy and advocacy efforts.
• Have been widely quoted by donors, researchers and policymakers.
• Triggered the creation of two major GFMD initiatives; GFMD IMPACT – the International Media Policy Advisory Centre – impact.gfmd.info and the MediaDev Fundraising Guide.

How long does the survey take to complete? This will vary as one section is dedicated only to recipients of funding. The whole survey should take around 15-20 minutes to answer. However, it would be particularly helpful if you could take additional time to add suggestions and ideas in the comment boxes provided.

Definitions: For the purposes of this survey “media development” refers to both media development and journalism support.
