The RevCon Reporters Group is accepting applications from journalists who are interested in reporting on nuclear weapons issues and want to learn alongside other journalists who are covering the upcoming Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) Review Conference (RevCon).
Over the course of RevCon (April 27-May 22), the Stanley Center’s Developing Story Project will offer a series of journalist and expert-led virtual briefings to inform you, in community with other reporters, as you cover the conference and learn more about reporting on nuclear weapons issues.
Thematics
- Officials from around the world will gather from April 27-May 22, 2026, in New York for NPT RevCon.
- They will confront the challenges of a shifting geopolitical landscape, increased global conflict, erosion of international norms, disruptive technologies like AI, and heightened nuclear risks.
- Mark Leon Goldberg, seasoned journalist and host of Global Dispatches, a leading podcast about world affairs, will be on location at the United Nations headquarters in New York to serve as a resource during RevCon for a select group of journalists covering the conference.
What the Project offers
- Journalists participating in the RevCon Reporters Group will be invited to take part in three virtual briefings before, during, and after the conference.
- Mark Leon Goldberg will share regular updates from the conference with participants, interviewing attendees, sharing hot takes and insights from the ground, and helping to make sense of the proceedings.
Participants in the RevCon Reporters Group will:
- Gain insight into how multilateral nuclear policy is created and negotiated.
- Connect with a community of fellow journalists interested in reporting more on nuclear weapons through a WhatsApp chat set up for the group.
- Discover opportunities to pitch and potentially publish reporting in your own outlets on nuclear weapons and related issues before, during, and after the conference.
The program will kick off with a virtual briefing on Monday, April 27, with reports and updates continuing through the duration of RevCon until Friday, May 22.
