Climate tracker invites you to join the 8th Cycle of their Climate Journalism Mentoring Program and get the tools to cover the transformation towards an energy matrix.

This cycle is designed to welcome 11 journalists from Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Peru, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Honduras, Mexico and Venezuela.

The selected individuals will have the opportunity to acquire tools and economic incentives to tell meaningful stories about the impact of climate change in their region, focusing especially on the transition to renewable energy.

Eligibility

The Climate Journalism Mentoring Program is aimed at media journalists and freelancers who have:

  • At least one year of experience in journalism.
  • A demonstrated interest in environmental and climate issues.
  • A compelling story proposal related to the energy transition.
  • Curiosity and commitment to make the most of this learning experience.

Focus Areas

The focus of this cycle is to train participants in covering key aspects such as:

  • Infrastructure for transmission lines.
  • Energy storage.
  • Obtaining a social license for energy projects.

Benefits

  • Total financial incentive of $900: Earn $300 for each story published, providing you with direct support as you develop your talent.
  • Specialised training: You will participate in 6 training sessions on climate journalism and energy transition, taught by experts in the field.
  • Personalised editorial support: You will have the guidance of mentors who will help you perfect your reports and strengthen your narrative proposal.
  • Networking opportunities: You will expand your network of contacts within the journalistic field and you will be able to make your work visible in regional media.
