Call for Submissions: Course material on Decolonizing Journalism

Status: Closed

Organisation: University of Toronto School of Continuing Studies

Deadline: 25/03/2024

Location: Online

This call for submissions is targeted at Journalism Educators and Editorial Leaders, especially (but not exclusively) those who based in or working for a news outlet in the Global South OR are Indigenous.

The University of Toronto School of Continuing Studies is looking for short submissions to include in a new course titled: Decolonizing Journalism.

This call for submissions refers specifically to the final module of the course, which will discuss journalism’s future through the lens of leading journalists or non-journalists (but people who work close /adjacent to that space) based outside of North America and Europe.

These individuals can be people who are already developing a new model for journalism, or are practicing it in a way that some may describe as unconventional.

They are looking for a 200-800 word blurb /vision of what you think news will look like in the future, and/or what they think should be the future of journalism or news. These predictions can be written informally or anecdotally.
