The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Regional Office for East Asia is seeking proposals from qualified organisations to conduct two training workshops on disability equality in media. These training workshops will target media institutions, with a specific focus on chief editors and managers in one workshop.
Project Objectives
- Enhance the capacity of media institutions to produce content that is inclusive and accessible to persons with disabilities.
- Raise awareness of the UNESCO Practical Manual on Disability Equality in Media and Master Class Video Series among media professionals.
- Equip chief editors and managers with the knowledge and tools to implement transformative actions that promote disability equality within their organisations.
Scope of Work
The selected organisation will be responsible for the following:
- Workshop Development: Develop the content and curriculum for two separate workshops, with one specifically tailored to chief editors and managers, focusing on implementing transformative actions.
- Delivery: Conduct both workshops for a total of 5 media institutions. Each workshop should have approximately 20 participants.
- Materials: Develop and provide all workshop materials, including pre-reading materials, presentations, participant handouts, and a list of relevant resources. All materials should be delivered in a format accessible to participants.
- Expertise: The workshop facilitator(s) must possess a strong understanding of disability inclusion in media, best practices for accessible content creation, and the UNESCO resources provided.
- Pre-Workshop Needs Assessment: Conduct a brief needs assessment with each media institution before the workshops to tailor the content and address specific challenges.
- Post-Workshop Support: Offer post-workshop support to participating media institutions, such as access to online resources or follow-up consultations
- Reporting: Submit a post-workshop report summarising key discussions, participant feedback, and recommendations for further action.
