The Forum on Information and Democracy is seeking contributions for a global policy brief on disinformation and attacks on information integrity related to environmental issues beyond climate change. This call is part of a dedicated workstream under the International Partnership for Information and Democracy, co-chaired by the governments of Armenia and Brazil. The initiative aims to inform COP30 (Brazil) and COP17 (Armenia) and shape international efforts to address environmental disinformation and uphold information integrity in environmental governance.
Project Themes
- Disinformation and manipulation narratives on non-climate environmental issues (biodiversity, deforestation, water pollution, land degradation, etc.)
- Challenges to information access, attacks on journalists, and erosion of trust in science-based reporting
- Case studies on environmental misinformation and its policy implications
- Regional or sector-specific assessments (e.g., agriculture, forestry, extractive industries)
- Regulatory, institutional, and civil society strategies to counter environmental disinformation
- Empirical evidence on the sources, spread, and impact of misinformation
- Cross-cutting approaches linking media literacy, fact-checking, and public policy
- Innovative policy and governance models promoting information integrity in environmental issues
Eligibility Criteria
- Researchers, investigative journalists, environmental policy experts, and civil society organizations
- Experience in media analysis, environmental communication, or disinformation tracking
- Able to provide clear, well-documented evidence or analysis
- Contributions may include theoretical insights, case studies, or original research
- Fluency in English, French, German, or Spanish
- Willing to share work for a Creative Commons publication
- Open to peer review and collaborative engagement
