The Forum on Information and Democracy is looking for experienced contributors to share insights and proposals on digital taxes as a means to fund public interest journalism. These contributions will inform a global policy brief aimed at strengthening media sustainability and shaping international policy agendas.
Project Themes
- Digital service taxes and their application to tech platforms
- Digital advertising taxes earmarked for public interest uses
- Digital VATs and their expansion to online services
- National and regional legislative approaches to digital taxation
- Innovative fiscal models for funding journalism
- Public media taxes and platform contributions
- Global case studies of tax initiatives supporting journalism
- Legal, economic, and political implications of digital taxation
Eligibility Criteria
- Researchers, journalists, media policy experts, or legal scholars
- Experienced in media economics, public policy, or digital governance
- Familiar with fiscal frameworks and/or journalism funding models
- Able to present clear, concise, and well-sourced analysis
- Fluent in English, French, German, or Spanish
- Willing to share their work for a Creative Commons publication
- Open to peer review and collaborative feedback
