The editors of NorMedia Network invite contributions for the forthcoming volume Photography / Intensity / Measure, which will be published by an academic publisher in 2026. The book explores the nexus between photography, measurement, and intensity, considering how contemporary and historical photographic practices grapple with questions of scale, proportion, affect, and incommensurability.
Objectives
- Investigate the relationship between photography, intensity, and measurement in theory and practice.
- Explore how intensity is represented, scaled, or challenged in visual cultures.
- Analyze historical and contemporary photographic practices that engage with intensity across technical, political, environmental, and affective dimensions.
- Provide interdisciplinary perspectives on the uses and abuses of measure in the visual realm.
- Contribute to academic discourse on the affective, corporeal, and political intensities of photography.
Eligibility Criteria
Open to scholars, researchers, and practitioners working in photography, visual studies, cultural studies, media studies, and related fields.
