African Women in Media (AWiM) in partnership with the African Union Commission (AUC) invites submissions for the AWiM25 Conference, taking place from 4–5 December 2025 at the African Union Commission, Addis Ababa. The call welcomes abstracts from media professionals and organisations, policymakers and regulators, academics and researchers, and civil society and advocacy groups, aligned with the theme: Beyond Commitments: Advancing Policies for Gender-Safe Media

Objectives
  • Strengthen media frameworks to ensure gender-safe environments.
  • Advance policies aligned with African Union instruments protecting women’s and girls’ rights.
  • Highlight economic equity, policy accountability, and representation in media.
  • Foster interdisciplinary dialogue across media, technology, and human rights.
Eligibility Criteria
  • Open to media professionals, researchers, academics, civil society actors, policymakers, and regulatory bodies.
  • Submissions must align with the theme and at least one thematic strand.
  • Abstracts must present a clear topic, framework, methodology (if applicable), and expected contribution.

Deadline: The deadline to submit abstracts is 30 April 2025.
