Kokonut Head Media (KNH) is inviting applications for its 2025 Writers in Residence program, designed to support and incubate emerging African writers based on the continent. Through this competitive three-month residency, three selected writers will receive mentorship, creative guidance, and a platform to publish their work.
Each writer will produce six original short stories to be published on KNH’s website. The residency also includes one-on-one mentorship toward a specific writing goal—this could involve support with a fellowship or academic application, manuscript submission, or a writing competition. Writers must commit at least 20 hours per week to the program and will receive a competitive monthly stipend throughout the residency.

Eligibility Criteria
- Open to African writers currently based on the African continent
- Demonstrated portfolio of completed creative writing (fiction preferred)
- Commitment to producing six new short stories over three months
- Ability to dedicate at least 20 hours per week to the residency
- Interest in developing a long-term writing goal (e.g., publishing, fellowship, competition)
- Strong written communication in English
