Journalists across the Western Balkans and Türkiye are invited to submit entries for the 2025 EU Investigative Journalism Award. This prestigious award recognizes outstanding investigative reporting that defends the public interest, exposes wrongdoing, and promotes accountability.

The competition is open for in-depth investigative stories published in 2024, focusing on key issues such as corruption, organized crime, human rights (including digital rights), extremism, foreign interference, and other topics of significant public concern.

Objectives
  • Recognize excellence in investigative journalism in the Western Balkans and Türkiye
  • Encourage cross-border journalistic collaboration
  • Promote media integrity and accountability in public life
  • Support journalism that contributes to democratic resilience
 Eligibility
  • Open to individual journalists and teams based in the Western Balkans and Türkiye
  • Eligible stories must be published in 2024
  • Submissions must address issues of public interest (e.g., corruption, organized crime, human rights)
  • Regional entries must include an English translation
  • Maximum of three entries per applicant (for national and/or regional categories)
