Thomson Reuters Foundation is offering a training programme for journalists in Africa to report on illicit financial flows, helping them understand how countries lose money through illicit means. The programme, Wealth of Nations, includes intensive training in Nairobi, followed by mentoring and story production. Participants will receive financial support and access to experts to enhance their investigative reporting.
Eligibility Criteria
- Journalists based in Africa with at least two years of professional experience
- Both freelancers and staff journalists can apply (editor consent required for staff)
- Strong motivation to understand illicit finance is a must
- Previous participants of Wealth of Nations or TRF training in the last 12 months are not eligible
Programme Benefits
- Training: Intensive workshop covering illicit finance, investigative techniques, and reporting on finances
- Mentorship: Guidance from experienced journalists throughout story production
- Grant: USD 1,000 for story production (funding varies depending on the story)
- Networking: Access to experts and advice on reporting illicit financial flows
