Diaspora Africa Migration Media Hub, in collaboration with IOM Nigeria, is offering the training course “Reporting Climate Migration in Africa.”
They invite journalists and reporters with interest in climate migration to apply. The training is established to support a new breed of young journalists across Africa. The training on reporting climate migration in Africa will last for 2 days from July 9th to 10th, 2024.
Course Objectives
- Enhance awareness, understanding and science-based insights on migration and climate change in Nigeria and Africa.
- Create a network of climate change and migration media representation across sectors and niche.
- Learn how to develop stories that are simple, powerful, and accurate, and which resonate with the lives of their audiences.
- Leverage contemporary social innovation practices and tools such as solution journalism and AI to tell Nigeria’s climate migration stories.
Who can apply?
The course is targeted at young (18-35) journalists and reporters, based in Nigeria, who fulfill the following criteria:
- Interest in Climate storytelling, migration and journalism
- Have considerable experience in media reporting in Nigeria or Africa
- Availability of any featured article online or in print
- Willing to be a part of a network of climate migration storytellers in Nigeria
- Available for at least 90% of the training period
